In recent years, proxy advisory firms, activist investors, and other stakeholders have increasingly sought to drive governance reforms at publicly traded companies. Now, even index funds are beginning to collaborate with activists and other stakeholders in the shareholder engagement process to bring about change in governance practices, as well as in the E and S in ESG. In response to these developments, boards and management teams are deploying a range of different strategies and experiencing varying levels of success in doing so.
Mark Finkelstein, a member of the board of directors of Columbia Banking System Inc. and a board member of the NACD Northwest Chapter, will moderate a panel including Beth Baum, senior director of Investor Relations at Weyerhaeuser Company; Gerhard Erdelji, investor relations officer at HomeStreet Bank; and Mike Stiller, global co-head of Strategic Capital Intelligence at Nasdaq.
